First look at the 25m Hystream HS 80 catamaran yacht

The first renderings and details of the 25.1-metre Hystream HS 80 catamaran yacht concept have been released. The HS 80 yacht is currently on the market with Kristen Klein of Northrop & Johnson.

The yacht, designed by Michael Peters Yacht Design, is decked out in bifacial solar panels, solid-state supercapacitors and hydrogen storage. Described by Northrop & Johnson as an “ultra-efficient, zero-emission catamaran”

Her hybrid propulsion system comprises a parallel electric drive system that is supported by a diesel engine for high speeds, while the bifacial solar panels increase energy capture by utilising sunlight from both sides.

The inclusion of solid-state supercapacitors for energy storage are intended to offer long-lasting, rapid-charge energy storage with a 30-year lifespan compared to conventional  lithium-ion batteries. Meanwhile, the carbon fibre compressed hydrogen storage system is aimed to allow safe fuel containment.

Regarding her accommodation, the HS 80 yacht is capable of hosting as many as eight guests across four ensuite staterooms. Her owner’s suite boasts far-reaching sea views, an ensuite bath and sustainable materials. Further living quarters are available to support a crew of four.

Throughout the interior, floor-to-ceiling windows flood living areas with natural light while providing scenic views. The open-plan main saloon showcases options for unwinding, dining and socialising.

Moving outside, the HS 80 yacht’s aft deck seamlessly transitions to the indoor saloon, and is home to an alfresco dining arrangement. In addition, the flybridge contains further seating options, while the forward deck invites guests to catch some rays on a sunbathing lounge with integrated seating. As for the stern, here the beach club and swim platform facilitate immersion with the surrounding seascape.

In terms of her performance, the catamaran has a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of eight knots. When using stored hydrogen alone, she has a range of 80 nautical miles with zero emissions. The HS 80 yacht is equipped with autonomous navigation, developed with Avikus & Raymarine AI-driven technology, that paves the way for AI-assisted berthing, collision avoidance and route optimisation.
